Before you start: three decisions
- One idea. A reel that tries to say three things says none. Pick the one thing a viewer should remember.
- Dialect or Modern Standard Arabic. A Saudi dialect feels close and personal on Instagram and TikTok. Modern Standard Arabic suits announcements and content for the whole Arab world. Choose one and keep to it in every scene.
- The size. 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Make a 1:1 copy if you also post to the feed.
Step 1: Plan the scenes
Think of a reel as three parts:
- The hook. The first scene stops the scroll: a question, a bold claim you can stand behind, or the result before the method.
- The content. One point per scene. A tip, a step, a number, a before and after.
- The call to action. What should they do now? Follow, save, visit, or send you a message.
Step 2: Write Arabic that reads at a glance
- Short lines. A headline of a few words and a line under it. If you need a paragraph, you need another scene.
- Everyday words. Write the way your audience talks, especially in dialect.
- Diacritics only where they help, on a word that could be misread without them.
- Lists for lists. Steps and tips read better as a list or numbered steps than as a sentence.
Step 3: Make sure the Arabic is set correctly
This is where many tools fail. Watch for three problems: letters that come apart instead of joining, a line whose words appear in reverse order, and a Latin word, such as a brand name, that jumps to the wrong end of an Arabic line. Check every scene on your phone before you post. And make sure the text stands out from the background without hiding it.
Step 4: Add motion, sound and your logo
Gentle camera movement and a transition between scenes keep the eye moving. Use music you have the right to use. Open and close on your logo so the reel is yours even when it is shared without your name.
Step 5: Write the caption and publish
The caption does the work the video cannot: a first line that hooks, a short explanation, a call to action, and a few relevant hashtags.
Reels made this way
Made in Engage Posts, each one about Engage Posts itself.
The same steps in Engage Posts
- Set your brand once: your colours, name, handle and an Arabic font, and your logo on Pro and Max.
- Write the idea in “From your idea to scenes”. The scenes come back written: a hook, the content, a call to action, in Arabic or English.
- Edit each scene. Shorten the lines, pick a layout such as a list, steps or a big number, and set where the text sits.
- Pick the background and motion. A texture or a Swiss style in your colours, or your own clips. Then a camera move and a transition.
- Add the sound. A built-in track written for Engage, your own upload, or none. On Pro and Max, add a voice-over.
- Download the MP4 and generate the caption. Then press Publish to send it to Instagram, TikTok or Snapchat from your phone.
Engage Posts sets Arabic properly in every frame, joins the letters, keeps a Latin brand name in place, and draws a soft halo around the letters so they stay readable over any background.
Common mistakes
- Too much text in one scene. If you cannot read it twice before it changes, cut it.
- A slow start. Lead with the hook, not with your logo and a greeting.
- Mixing dialects. Pick one voice and keep it.
- No call to action. Tell people what to do next.
